FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable workout clothes;  comfortable leggings, tank tops and sticky socks. Make sure they’re not too baggy so the instructor can make sure you are in proper alignment. We sell workout clothing in our lobby as well. Please do not wear heavy perfumes or oils.

What kind of shape should I be in to try this?

Any shape! The work we do at The Pilates Barre is geared towards helping each and every client to find their healthiest self. Our staff and instructors are extremely experienced and on hand to help you with any modifications to make our classes and sessions the right challenge for you.

When can I expect to see results?

While every body is different, you will undoubtedly see results faster if you come more often. Joseph Pilates is famous for a quote that reads, 'In 10 sessions, you will feel the difference. In 20 sessions, you will see the difference. And in 30 sessions, you will be different."  Additionally, combining a variety of our workouts (e.g. taking a Pilates Tower class along with Barre or Bodhi) will maximize your results and have you seeing your shape transform sooner. Whatever commitment your schedule allows, your body will thank you.

Are there classes for men?

Most classes are open to everyone but broken down by levels and some are specifically for men. Our male clients tend to love private, semi-private and group Reformer classes and Bodhi (or TRX) classes.

What should I bring?

All equipment is available at the studio. Hydration is always important and water bottles are encouraged.  We have water available in a cooler and in bottles available for purchase at the desk. Purses, phones, and personal belongings can be left in our lobby area where our front desk is on staff.   Sticky socks are available for purchase at the front desk and highly encouraged to prevent slipping as shoes are not worn in class.

What should I know before my first class?

Make sure to make the most of our New Client specials available for purchase online or at the studio. And check out our various classes and levels so as to find the right fit for you. If you have any questions our staff and instructors are here to help!

How big are classes?

Our Barre classes have a maximum of 16 and our  Pilates Tower and  Bodhi max out at 14.  It is very important to our instructors and studio that you receive an effective amount of instruction to get the most out of a fun and safe workout.

Does The Pilates Barre have any promotions or deals?

Yes, we run monthly or seasonal promotions for different packages but always have standing new client specials. Make sure to join our newsletter so you can get the inside scoop on all upcoming discounts and sales. All clients are eligible for a complimentary class when they bring a new client in who buys a package!

What if I want private or semi-private lessons?

Private and semi-private instruction is available, encouraged and arranged through the front desk by e-mail, phone or in person.

How do I know what level I am for the Reformer?

For recommendations on appropriate classes or sessions, we suggest calling or emailing the studio. One of our Pilates teachers will reach out to you and help you determine the best placement for your skill level.

POLICIES

FIRST TIME CLIENTS

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of class/appointment so you are able to fill out the necessary waivers and health forms.

RESERVATIONS AND WAITLIST

Online or email reservations are suggested for all classes.

Email, in-person, or phone reservations are required for private and semi-private Reformer sessions.

Standing reservations are ongoing, week to week, unless student states termination of standing appointment.

Waitlisted clients will be notified as soon as possible if a reservation becomes available. Waitlisted clients who are notified of an available reservation less than 24 hours in advance will not be subject to the class fee should they not be able to attend the class.

We will hold your reservation until 10 minutes after the start of class. If you are more than 10 minutes late for class, your reservation may be given to a waitlisted client.

CANCELLATIONS

Reserved sessions must be cancelled by email or online 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged in full. We want to ensure our clients are able to attend as many sessions as they wish, and canceling without advanced notice or not showing up to an appointment prevents other clients from attending those classes..

Clients with a Monthly Unlimited package will be charged $20 if they late cancel a fusion class with a waitlist.

If cancellation is necessary, students are asked to come to another class/session in the same week if possible.

EMERGENCY CANCELLATIONS: If you miss your class due to an emergency or sudden sickness, you are entitled to take an off-peak class in the same week at no charge.

APPOINTMENT LENGTH

All Reformer sessions scheduled for one hour are technically 55 minutes long. The five minute break is for scheduling purposes and clean-up.

PACKAGE EXPIRATIONS AND REFUNDS

Regular packages expire 12 months from the start date and promotional packages expire 6 months from start date.

Package purchases are nonrefundable and non-transferrable.

WEATHER POLICY

In the event of severe weather, please check our online schedule for class cancellations, alternate class options or a possible studio closing. If the studio closes, no late cancels will be charged. If the studio remains open and class is still going on but you do not feel comfortable driving, please send the studio an email and we'll try to fill your spot. In the event of a school delay, in most cases, morning classes will be delayed. Clients will be early cancelled but encouraged to take their class which will be moved  to a later time when schools resume and roads are cleared.   Clients are also asked to check their e-mail before coming to the studio in the event of inclement weather.

Core

The Core is the center of where all movement comes from. The deep abdominal muscles responsible for holding us up are strengthened  and stretched to benefit posture and balance in addition to all exercise modalities and activities of daily life.

Breathe

Breathing can change an entire exercise. Learning to breathe properly makes exercise more efficient and effective, feeds oxygen to your muscles that work so hard, and contributes greatly to overall health on both a physical and emotional level.

Hydrate

No matter the exercise, your brain and muscles crave hydration to keep you going. Whether coming to the studio or sitting in the office – drinking water is an underrated tool for keeping your body and mind in check.
